List of municipalities in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is the seventh-most populous of Canada's provinces and territories with 921,727 residents as of 2011 and is the second-smallest province in land area at approximately . Nova Scotia's 60 incorporated municipalities are either upper-tier counties, which contains or lower-tier towns or municipal districts, or single-tier regional municipalities. Nova Scotia's 45 single-tier or lower-tier municipalities cover only of the territory's land mass, but are home to of its population. ==Upper-tier municipalities==
Nova Scotia has two levels of municipal government with the exception of former counties of Cape Breton, Halifax and Queens which were contiguous with the current single-tier regional municipalities of Cape Breton, Halifax, and Queens. The 15 counties cover all territory in Nova Scotia apart from the three aforementioned regional municipalities, and contain all lower-tier municipalities.
